Ask Dr. Jensen: Why is it so important to have straight teeth?

Some people wonder why Dr. Jensen and our professional team work so hard to give our patients straight teeth. Of course it’s nice to have a smile full of evenly aligned teeth, but did you know that straightening your teeth can keep them healthier? Straight teeth lead to better oral hygiene, increasing your chances of keeping your own natural teeth for a lifetime.

Straight teeth are less prone to decay, because they collect less plaque—the sticky colorless substance that forms on our teeth and leads to tooth decay; and they are easier to keep clean!

At our Plano orthodontic offices, you'll find a warm and friendly atmosphere where the most advanced techniques and equipment are used to create outstanding results. This includes Damon® Braces (traditional braces), clear braces, iBraces™ (lingual braces), SureSmile®, and Invisalign® (invisible braces) . The focus is always on providing quality results for our patients.

If you’re wondering whether your teeth might cause problems because they are out of alignment, give us a call to set up a consultation. Dr. Jensen can help you decide whether or not you will benefit from orthodontic treatment at James Dean Jensen, DDS.

Happy Wednesday!

Meet Our Orthodontist

Dr. James Dean Jensen, Dr. J. or Dean to his patients, was born at Baylor hospital in Dallas. Having spent most of his school years in Chicago, Baltimore, and Iowa, Dr. Jensen returned to Baylor for his orthodontic residency. As Texas was "home" he decided to stay and start his practice in Plano. Now, over 20 years later, he is starting to see the children of patients he saw when he started his practice.

Dr. Jensen and his wife Diane have three beautiful Golden Retrievers that, along with the many patients they see each day, have long been considered their family. They recently adopted two little boys, which are already richly blessing their lives. In his free time, Dr Jensen enjoys running, golfing, fishing, and traveling.
